February Tip of the Month:
To clean glass windows without leaving smears, add one tablespoon of cornstarch to one litre of lukewarm water, use a cloth with the liquid, ring out first and wipe over windows. Wipe dry with a soft cloth or paper.
January Tip of the Month:
To prevent ash from flying everywhere when cleaning out a fireplace, use a spray bottle filled with water to cover the ashes with a light mist first.
December Tip of the Month:
Light a match and let it burn for a few seconds to remove bad smells.
November Tip of the Month:
To clean a microwave oven, add four tablespoons of lemon juice to one cup of water in a microwave safe bowl. Boil for five minutes in the microwave, allowing steam to condensate on the inside walls of the microwave. Then wipe them with a soft cloth.
October Tip of the Month:
To get blood out of fabrics, use hydrogen peroxide. Apply it directly to stain and then launder in the washing machine.
September Tip of the Month:
clove oil kills mould spores. Mix three drops in one litre of water and then use to wipe down area susceptible to mould.
August Tip of the Month:
To remove furniture indentation from ONLY pure wool carpets place a tea towel over the area and press with a warm iron.
July Tip of the Month:
To stop ants entering your house, draw a chalk line on the ground where you want them to stop. You must redraw the chalk lines each time it rains.
June Tip of the Month:
Too restore toilet bowls back to there shiny best.Clean with old flat cola. To dissolve limescale leave the cola over night to soak.
May Tip of the Month:
To remove fingerprints from stainless steel appliances, place a small amount of baby oil onto a cloth and wipe the affected areas. The fingerprints will just wipe away.
April Tip of the Month:
To clean the bottom of the iron, sprinkle salt on the ironing board and iron back and forth.
March Tip of the Month:
To stop bathroom mirrors steaming up – Regularly rub a dry bar of soap over the surface and rub in with a clean cloth.
